Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "S. Bell & Son, Strasburg."
 
This is the work of Samuel Bell and his Son, Turner Ashby, who potted together in Strasburg around 1880-1890 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 72-73, 74).
 
This beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim for Ease of Tying Cheese Cloth Over the Top, a Clear Pottery Stamp, and Three Units of Comma Vining in Cobalt Blue.  Stands 8 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Some light staining. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
