    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare Wax Sealer Canning Jar Impressed with the Initials "SDS." 

     

    It is attributed to B. C. Milburn of Alexandria, Virginia.  Milburn potted in Alexandria from the early 1800's to just beyond the Civil War (See Eddie Wilder, Alexandria, Virginia Pottery 1792-1876, pp. 179-290).

     

    Dating around 1860, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim and the Impressed Initials.  Stands 7 3/8" tall.  

     

    Excellent Condition. Three small chips inside the top rim (1/4" to 1/2"), and two flakes at the base (1/8" 1/4").  That's it!  No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
