Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "S. Bell & Son, Strasburg, VA."
Samuel Bell and his Son, Turner Ashby, potted together in Strasburg around 1880-1890 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 72-73, 74)
This beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim, the Pottery Stamp, and Four Units of Comma Vining in Dark Cobalt Blue. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Five chips around the rim (1/8" to 1/2') and two at the base (1/4", 3/4"). No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
