Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "S. S. Perry, Troy."
This is the work of Sanford Perry who worked in West Troy (modern Watervliet) from 1833 to 1836 (William C. Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900), 208. Also see, Curtis B. Rice, James River Stoneware and the S. S. Perry Connection.
This jar features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. Stands 11" tall.
Very Good Condition. A couple isolated stains and a ping on the shoulder in the back (closeup). No spout or base chips, cracks, or restoration. A recess near the bottom of the right side in the making.
