    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock that reads, "From S. C. Merritt, Marlboro, N.Y."  

     

    It was made and stamped by "Haxstun, & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y." Andrew K. Haxstun ran the company from 1875-1882 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).

     

    This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp and Four Lines of Cobalt Script Advertising.  Measures 9 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.  

     

    Excellent Condition.  Three 1/8" nibbles inside the rim, a couple fleabites and two chips outside the rim (1/4", 7/8"),  and some scattered small glaze flakes on the back.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
