Item 11459
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Ovoid Jar Decorated with Large Tulips.
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Larger Size, Ovoid Shape, Tall Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Bulbous Base, Rounded Footer and Two Large Brushed Cobalt Tulips on Each Side. Additional cobalt decoration around the handles. Stands 13 3/4" tall and 9 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A 1/2" chip on the footer and a 5" tight vertical hairline on one side wrapping under 5" (closeup). No rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
