Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Two Piece Stoneware Jardiniere from New York.

An expert in New York stoneware attributes it to a pottery in Fort Edward or surrounding area.  I have never seen another one like it.

Circa 1880, this beauty features a Classic Urn Form with Fancy Embossed Scrollwork at the Top and Upward Moving Florals at the Bottom.  The Base is Shaped like an Elaborate Chalice.  It is glazed in a light honey brown Rockingham glaze.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A couple 1/8" nibbles on the top rim, some glaze loss around the edge of the pot, and a few scattered minor chips on the decoration.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  The pedestal is mint.

A truly remarkable piece of stoneware.
