Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 2 Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock attributed to the Brown Family of Alleghany County, Virginia.
 
Dating to the third quarter of the 19th century, this beauty features an Angular Rim, Canted Sides, Strap Handles, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral and Capacity Number on Both Side.  Additional cobalt accent at the handle terminals. 
 
Very Good Condition. Chipping under the rim, two chips at the base (1/2", 1 3/4"), and glaze wear from use.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
