Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Yellow Ware Crock Lid.
Circa 1880, this beauty is actually Yellow Ware with a Salt Glaze Edge and Bennington Glaze Center. The middle has four embossed bunches of fruit and the edge has a wavy cobalt stripe. Measures 13" in diameter and fits in a crock with an opening at least 9" wide.
The lid is unusual for its combination of large size, yellow ware construction, mixed Bennington and salt glazes, and mixed embossed and freehand cobalt decoration.
Excellent Condition. Some staining along the salt glazed top edge, and three 1/4" chips on the underside. No top chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
