    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon and early 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "R. L. Norton, East Dorset."

     

    This is the mark of Richard Lucas Fenton who, along with his brother Christopher, worked in his father Jonathan's pottery which operated from 1810-1835 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 40).

     

    This beauty features a Large Size, Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration. Stands 16" tall.   

     

    As you know, pottery by this maker is uncommon.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Some light staining from use.  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
