Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fabulous 4 Gallon Ovoid Jar from Edgefield, South Carolina.  
 
Dating to the Civil War, this beauty features a Large Size, Ovoid Form, Slightly Rounded Rim, Applied Handles, and a Green Alkaline Glaze.  Measures 12 3/4" tall and approximately 13 1/2" wide in the center.  
 
Very Good Condition.  Four small chips on the rim (1/8" to 1/2") with one chip about 1 1/2" professionally restored (closeup 1), a faint 2" hairline from the rim above one handle, and a 3" hairline at the base that wraps under 2" (closeup 2). No base chips, cracks, or stains.  A few short firing lines at the that appear lighter in the making (closeup 3).
