Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped "The P.S. Co., York, PA."
This is the mark of the Pfaltzgraff Pottery of York, Pa which began in the 1830's. This mark was used from about 1894-1906 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 51-52).
This jug was deascensioned from the Pfaltzgraff museum when Pfaltzgraff changed ownership.
Dating about 1895, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Shape, Clear Pottery Stamp, and a Beautiful Brushed Cobalt Flower composed of a Tulip Dangling from a Branch. The branch has 12 leaves and the tulip has 5 petals. Stands 15 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A flat 1/4" flake and a half-dozen scattered hen pecks on the body, and a flat 1/4" flake on the base. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Small stone ping on the top of the tulip in the making.
