  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "P. Herrmann."

This is the stamp of Peter Herrmann who made pottery on Eager Street in Baltimore from 1850-1872 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 98).

This beauty features a Clear Pottery Stamp and Three Units of Comma Vining Dangling from the Rim.  Notice the shape of the rim is designed to allow a wax covered paper or cloth to be tied securely around the top.  Strong cobalt on a light gray background clay for maximum contrast.  Stands 10" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Two flat chips on the top of the rim (1/8", 3/4"), and a flat flake and minor nibbles on the base (3/8").  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
