Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "N. White & Co., Binghamton."
 
This is one of the marks of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of Whites Pottery in Utica, N.Y.  He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 for his father-in-law, Noah White, and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 71).
 
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Elaborate Bird on a Branch Decoration. The bird sports a dotted breast and numerous individually drawn feathers.  The branch is also dotted.  The decoration is executed with a slip cup in bright and shiny cobalt.  Stands 13 1/4" tall.
 
Currently White/Roberts stoneware with their fancier bird decorations are getting a premium price.
