Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Stoneware 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "N. Clark, Jr., Athens, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Nathan Clark, Jr. of Athens, N.Y. who ran the family pottery from 1843-1891 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66).
This beauty sports a Short and Squatty Form, Flared Spout, Round Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Gorgeous Large Tulip Decoration. The brushed cobalt floral has multiple leaves and a large blossom-- all in strong and pretty cobalt that fills the front of the jug. Stands 12" tall.
Excellent Condition. A couple small, faint stains; some minor chips on the bottom groove of the extra fold in the base edge (closeup), and a chip on the center underside. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Exceptionally clean.
