Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "N. A. White & Son, Utica, N.Y."
This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
This beauty features a Great Small Size, Wide Rim for Tying a Cover Over the Top, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and an Elaborate Orchid Decoration. The orchid is drawn with a combination of a slip cup and brush, and has four leaves, a blossom, and three buds-- all in Thick, Bold, and Shiny Cobalt. Measures 8 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.A
Excellent Condition. A thin ring of water glass staining at the top inside. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration.
