Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "Mason & Russell, Cortland."
This duo made stoneware in Cortland, New York from 1835 to 1839 (William C. Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, 2nd ed., p. 316).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Tall Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. Stands 9 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1/4" chip on the rim above the left handle, and a line around the left handle rear terminal (closeup-still attached), and scattered light staining. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
