Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Splendid 1 Gallon Decorated Jug stamped "Cortland."
The decoration indicates that this is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports a Small Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Pinwheel of Three Brushed Cobalt Tulips. To say the least, the Cobalt is Bright!! Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on top of the spout and light staining on the bottom half. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
