Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Toby Lidded Snuff Jar made and stamped on the bottom by "Lyman Fenton & Co., Bennington, VT, Fenton Enamel, Patented 1849."
This beauty is in the form of a Seated Colonial Man with a Glass in One Hand and a Pitcher of Ale in the Other. Rockingham flint enamel glaze. Stands 4" tall.
Good Condition. Three filled chips at the base. Two are on the underside (1/2" each) and one is along the edge on the right side (1"- closeup 1). No top chips, hairlines, cracks, or stains. The lid has a filled 1/4" chip on the edge of the brim on top (closeup 2) and four small chips on the seating ring on the underside (1/8" to 3/8"). No hairlines, cracks, or stains.
