Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar whose form and decoration make it easy to attribute to John Poole Schermerhorn.
Schermerhorn had a pottery on Rocketts Landing of the James River in Henrico County, Virginia by 1820.
This jar features an Ovoid Form with Tooled and Rounded Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt on Top, and a Vine with 3 Schermerhorn Flowers on one side and 6 Schermerhorn Flowers on the other side. Stands 12" tall
Excellent Condition. Surface wear to the front of the handles and around the center from use. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
