Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this masterwork 1 gallon jar made and stamped by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine."

It is initialed on the bottom, DN 1987 with a Cross.  In my humble opinion, Mr. Beaumont has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today.  His work from York, Maine was some of his finest.

This piece is also initialed DF for Diana Friebely currently known as Diana Card, the folk artist.  She created the Eagle Decoration on this jar

This beauty features the stamp with cobalt wash, bottom signatures, and a fantastic decoration of a Swooping Eagle with Banner Reading "1987 USA."  The eagle is patterned after that used by William Warner at his pottery in West Troy N.Y. in the mid-19th century.   The decoration definitely classifies as folk art.  Stands 9 1/4" tall.

Comes from an extensive Massachusetts collection whose owner had personal ties to both the potter and the artist.  She gave me the privilege of buying this and many other Beaumont items (including the sign from the York, Maine pottery).

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of  any kind.
