Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar "From James Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features Top to Bottom Decoration. From the top down are two stripes at the rim, a wavy stripe on the shoulder, a row of freehand vining, the company advertising, and two bottom stripes. Light gray glaze provides a pretty contrast with the cobalt. Stands 10" tall.
Excellent Condition. A couple small wear spots on the shoulder. Otherwise, as made!
