Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 1 Gallon Wax Sealer Canning Jar made for the merchant, "R. A. Byrd & Sons, Dealers in General Merchandise, Palestine, W. VA."
Circa 1880 and made in Southwestern Pennsylvania, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for the Wax Sealer, Light Gray Glaze, and Two Stripes at the Top and One at the Bottom that Frame Five Lines of Stenciled Advertising. The stencil is complete and crisp and the cobalt dark to provide our eyes with a pleasing contrast with the light gray glaze. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 2" hairline from the rim that stops where my pensi pointing in the closeup. Otherwise, as made. No rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
