Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Grocery Merchant Jug made for "Dean, Foster & Co., 14 Blackstone St., Boston."
 
The decoration indicates that this jug was made by William and Gilbert Ottman of Fort Edward, N.Y. who ran their company from 1872-1892 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 68).
 
This beauty sports the Company Advertising with Cobalt Wash Stamped on the Shoulder and a Bluebird on a Branch created with Slip Cup and Brush.  Stands 14 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A 7/8" chip on top of the spout on the left side, a few chip on the front bottom (closeup), and a small stain to the right of the bird.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
