Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. Heiser, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of John Heiser who ran his father's pottery along with his brother Henry from 1848-1857 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 75).
This beauty features a Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Double Floral. The floral sports ground cover, a fancy leafed stem, and two different blossoms (must be a hybrid!). Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A single 1" chip on the top of the rim (closeup). Otherwise as made!
