Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 1 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. Heiser, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of John Heiser who ran his father's pottery along with his brother Henry from 1848-1857 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 75).
This beauty features a Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Light staining from use. Otherwise as made! A 3/4" chip on the bottom in the back is in the making and glazed over.
