Item 8059
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Miniature Wooden Churn made in West Virginia by J. H. Clay.
The sticker on the bottom states, "Native W. VA Wild Cherry, J. H. Clay, Route 3, Alderson, West Virginia."
Taking a guess, I would date this churn to the mid-20th century.
This beauty is turned on a lathe, with raised bands imitating metal hoops. Lid and dasher also included. Falls into the treen category. The churn itself stands only 4 1/8" tall.
As made condition. There is a 1/4" flake on the top edge, but appears to be in the making because it has original finish over it (closeup).
