Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 5 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features a Larger Size, the Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Cluster of Grapes on the left and Flower on the Right Decoration. Seven leaves support a cluster of 11 grapes on the left and a blossom with 9 petals on the right. A new hybrid species! Measures 13" tall and 13" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A fine 3" hairline from the rim in the back and some staining from use. No chips, cracks, or restoration.
