Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
 
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
 
This beauty features the Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and an Unusual Floral Decoration.  The flower has three leaves and a blossom with a dotted cetner surrounded by four petals.  All the decoration was executed with precision using a slip cup. Measures 9" tall and 10" wide across the top. 
 
Excellent Condition.  Small stain on the back.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
