Item 11254

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug stamped "Ithaca, N.Y."

This is surely the mark of the potter James Macumber who ran the pottery in Ithaca with several partners from 1864-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 72).

Circa 1870, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Folk Art Floral.  A stem holds up a center bud and two blossoms with five dotted petals each.  Strong cobalt applied with a slip cup.  Stands 11 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Two 1/4" chips on the left side of the spout.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A chip on the right side of the spout and three kiln touches in the making.
