Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Haxstun, Ottman & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Andrew K. Haxstun and William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company from 1867-1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp and a Freehand Floral Bouquet Executed with a Slip Cup. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Even wear and nibbles around the inner ledge where a lid would sit, two adjacents colored chips inside the rim (5/8", 3/4"), two chips on the left handle (1/4", 7/8"), some henpecks in the glaze below the decoration, and some light staining on the right side. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
