Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Rare 1/2 Gallon Size and the Company Advertising in Four Lines of Cobalt Lettering with Leaf Accents. Measures only 5 1/4" tall and 6 1/2" across the top.
Very Good Condition. A 2" hairline on the back bottom that wraps under 1". Only partially shows inside. Partly caused by a small stoneware ping inside in the making (closeup). No rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
