Item 12429
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Brady and Ryan, Ellenville, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Samuel Brady and John J. Ryan who ran their pottery in Ellenville from 1878-1897 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Classic Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration. The decoration is executed with a slip cup using shiny cobalt. The chicken is nicely centered and accented with dots and feathers. There are 17 pieces of corn too! (apparently I do not have enough to do!). Measures 10" tall and 11" wide across the top.
There are a few signed chicken crocks like this one that help us attribute the many that are not signed.
Excellent Condition. A single 1/4" flake on the back bottom edge. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
