Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "John Burger, Rochester."
This is the mark of John Burger who founded the family's pottery under this stamp and ran it from 1854-1867 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand Capacity Number "2", and a Fern with Three Leaves. Stands 14" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1" chip on the front bottom, and a few light stains on the right side. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
