Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon Stovepipe Wax Sealer Canning Jar.

 

Circa 1870 and coming from Southwestern Pennsylvania, this beauty features the Stovepipe Form with Wax Sealer Grooved Rim and the Unusual Decoration of a Straight Stripe at the Rim and Base with Comma Vining in Between.  Six leaves of vining in all.  Dark cobalt on a medium gray glaze for strong contrast.  Stands 6 1/2" tall.

 

Excellent Condition.  Very faint craze lines on the underside.  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Stoneware ping on the front bottom in the making.
