Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "S. Risley, Norwich."  
 
This is the work of Sidney Risley of Norwich, Connecticut. Risley ran his pottery from 1836 to 1875 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 56).
 
This beauty features a Larger Size, Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Triple Floral Executed with a Slip Cup, the Date "1847," and the Capacity Number "3".  Stands 14 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition. Some scattered light staining. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Superb condition.
