Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Superb 1 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar easily attributed to Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, Pennsylvania.
Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Grooved Wax Sealer Rim, Slightly Canted Sides, Cobalt Stripe at the Top and Bottom, and Two Pears Dangling from a Branch with Three Leaves in the Middle. The cobalt rich and dark. Strong contrast and exceptional visual appeal. Stands 8 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Chips around the inside fo the rim and minor nibbles outside of the rim, and faint Y-shaped surface line on the bottom. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A couple hot spots in the making.
