Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA.
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features Two Top Stripes and an Eagle with a Patriotic Shield Breastplate, Olive Branch in One Talon and a Clutch of Arrows in the Other. While faint, he also has a bannoer marked "Star" in his beak, another moniker of Hamilton and Jones. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 3" hairline from the rim on the right side (closeup). Otherwise, as made.
