Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 4 Gallon Stoneware Jar made in Southwestern  Pennsylvania.  

 

Circa 1865, this beauty features Top to Bottom Delicate Freehand Decoration.  From the top down are two straight stripes framing a row of 25 dots that define the rim, a detained vine with two dotted blossoms undulating across the top half, a tooled band with cobalt fill occupying the center, two wavy stripes framing more vining near the bottom, the capacity number flanked by fives stripes on each side with the straight stripe in the middle of two wavy stripes on each side, and a wavy and straight stripe at the bottom.  All the cobalt is dark and well displayed on the light gray glaze.  Our eyes don't know where to start gazing!  Stands 14 1/2" tall.

 

Very Good Condition.  A narrow 1" chip inside the rim, a 4" chip outside the rim in the back, and a narrow 1 1/4" chip on the base.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
