Item 12030
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Extremely Rare Merchant Wax Sealer made for "John H. Settle, Dealer in General Merchandise, Fairview, W. VA."
This is the only example many in stoneware collecting have ever seen. Even today the town only has 350 residents. Not likely that his merchant had many jars made for such a sparsely populated area.
Circa 1880, this jar features the Rim Groove for the Wax Sealant and Five Lines of Advertising with a Fancy Floral Border betweenthe Fourth and Fifth Lines. Stands 8 3/4" tall.
Good Condition. A 1/2" chip inside the rim and a sealed line on the left side from the rim to a Y on the bottom. No outer rim or base chips or stains.
