Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "Goodwin & Webster."
This is the work of Horace Goodwin and Mack Webster who ran the pottery in Hartford, Connecticut from 1831-1840 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 60-61).
This beauty features the Early Ovoid Form, Flared Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents at the Terminals, and the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Good Condition. A 1 1/4" chip on the front of the rim, an 8" surface-only line on the back not seen inside (closeup), and a narrow 2" chip on the underside at the edge. No inner rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. Stone ping on the front rim and 1" chip on the base- both in the making.
