Item 1264
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "G. W. Fulper and Bros., Flemington, N. J."
This is the mark of George Fulper and his brothers who ran the family pottery under this arrangement from 1881-1890 (see M. Lelyn Branin, The Early Makers of Handcrafted Earthenware and Stoneware in Central and Southern New Jersey, pp. 132-137).
This beauty features the maker's stamp with cobalt wash and a Brushed Cobalt Floral that Fills the Front with Strong Cobalt. The floral was clearly made by a decorator from the Ottman Brothers Pottery of Fort Edward N.Y where the decoration is identical to the smallest detail. Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. Six small chips (1/8" to 1/4"), two on the inner rim, two inside the top rim, one on the left handle, and one on the bottom in the back. No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
An early Fulper jar not commonly seen.
