    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Batter Jug made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg." 

     

    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58)

     

    The front features a Tulip Blossoom Under the Spout and the back features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Sideways Chrysanthemum Decoration.  Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals and tipping handle.  Retains an old bail handle.  Stands 8 3/4" tall

     

    Very Good Condition.  A narrow 1" chip inside the rim, a 1/4" chip on the side of the right handle holder, a 1/4" chip on the tipping handle, and chips around the spout as show.  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
