    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Batter Jug made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg." 

     

    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58)

     

    The front features a Cobalt Tulip Blossom Under the Spout and the back features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Snowflake Decoration.  Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals and tipping handle.  Retains an old bail handle and metal cap.  Stands 7 5/8" tall

     

    Very Good Condition.  A flat 1/2" chip on the outside of the rim and a 3/8" sliver flake on the tipping handle, and some staining from use.  No inner rim, spout, or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
