Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Batter Jug made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg." 

 

This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58)

 

The front features a Cobalt Floral Under the Spout and the back features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Snowflake Decoration.  Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals and tipping handle.  Retains an old bail handle.  Stands 7 3/8" tall

 

Good Condition.  A faint 1 1/4" hairline behind the left handle holder (closeup 1), a 2 3/4" hairline in front of the right handle holder (closeup 2), and some rust staining around the rim and spout.  No rim or base chips, cracks, or restoration.
