Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).
Circa 1850, this beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form, Multi-Tiered Tooled Rim, Applied Handles, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral Decoration on Both Sides. Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals and spigot opening. A pleasing small size and decoration. Stands 12 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 3/16" flake on top of the rim and a surface-only 3/4" horizontal ping line on the rolled footer. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Exceptionally clean example.
