    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Decorated Jar.


    This is the work of Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9). 
     
    Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form, Tooled Rim and Shoulder, and Five Brushed Cobalt Leaves Around the Top.  Each leaf boasts Seven Brushstrokes of Dark and Shiny Cobalt! Stands 13" tall.

     

    Good Condition.  The only apology is a 6" horizontal hairline near the base sitting on a 2" vertical line that wraps under 3" (closeup).  Otherwise, no chips, stains, or restoration.
