Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features a Larger Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Three Brushed Cobalt Leaves on a Stem Decoration. The cobalt is dark, rich, and shiny! Stands 12 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Water glass staining inside, and two adjacent 1/4" chips inside the rim. No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration. A stone ping on the back in the making.
