Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Cream pot made and stamped by "D. Weston, Ellenville, N.Y."
This is the work of Daniel Weston, son of Horace Weston who owned the family pottery in Ellenville from 1849 to 1869 when his brother Horace bought him out, but Daniel continued to run the pottery until 1875 (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 140-41).
This beauty features a Large Size for a Cream Pot, Rounded Rim, Bulbous Body, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Whimsical Decoration Created with a Slip Cup. Measures Stands 12" tall and 12" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A surface only X below the right handle. Not visible inside. No chips, hairlines,c cracks, stains, or restoration. Remarkable condition seeing that open crocks this size are so often cracked.
