Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar that reads, "From H. F. Behrens, Centre Market, Grocery, Wheeling, W. VA."
 
Behrens was a grocery merchant in Wheeling who had this jar made in one of the potteries of Beaver, Pennsylvania. 
 
Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim that Accommodates a Lid and 7 Lines of Advertising.  All the advertising is crisp and complete.  Stands 11 1/2" tall.  
 
Very Good Condition.  Water glass staining inside and some traces outside.  Three narrow chips on the bottom edge in the back (1/2", 1/2", 1 1/2").  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
